Terms of use
The deal between you and Giggy. Short, fair, and written so a person can actually read it.
Last updated 20 September 2026
By using Giggy you agree to these terms and to our Privacy page. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
1. What Giggy is
Giggy is a noticeboard. People post jobs and gigs, other people apply. We connect the two and we try to keep the place honest. We are not the employer, the recruiter or the contractor for any job, and we are not a party to any agreement between a job poster and an applicant. Whether you hire someone, or take a job, is between you and them.
2. Your account
- You must be 16 or older and give us accurate details.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself and tell us straight away if you think someone else has got in.
- One person, one account. Businesses can add their details to a personal account rather than making a separate one.
- You can close your account at any time from Profile settings.
3. Posting jobs
Posting is free. In return we ask that every listing is:
- Real. An actual job or gig you are actually offering, with honest pay, hours and location.
- Legal. It meets New Zealand employment law, including minimum wage, and does not discriminate on grounds the Human Rights Act 1993 protects.
- Yours. You have the right to offer the work and to use any business name or details on the listing.
- Free for applicants. You must never ask applicants to pay anything, buy anything or hand over bank details to apply.
We may edit, hide or remove any listing that breaks these rules or that we think is not right for Giggy, and we may close jobs automatically after their closing date.
4. Applying for jobs
- Be honest about who you are and what you can do.
- Only apply for jobs you are genuinely interested in. Do not spam listings.
- When you apply, the job poster gets your profile, CV, note and any video answers. Use their contact details only to talk about that job.
5. Video applications
- Some jobs ask for a video application. If so, you record short answers in your browser and pay a fee, currently $5 NZD including GST, before it is sent. The price is shown before you pay.
- Promo codes can make an application free or cheaper. They are for personal use and may have limits on how many times they can be used.
- If the recording fails on our side, or the job is removed before the employer has seen your application, we will refund you. Otherwise the fee is not refundable once the application has been sent. Contact support@giggy.nz if something has gone wrong.
- You keep ownership of your recordings. You give Giggy permission to store them and show them to the employer for that job, and you give that employer permission to watch them to decide on the job. Nothing more.
- Employers: you may not download, copy, share, publish or keep video applications outside Giggy, and you may not use them for anything other than deciding on that job. Breaking this rule ends your account.
6. Behaviour we will not have
We will disable or remove accounts that:
- post fake, misleading or scam listings, or ask applicants for money;
- harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone;
- post content that is illegal, obscene or that they do not have the right to post;
- scrape, copy or resell listings or applicant information;
- try to break, overload or get around the security of the site;
- use Giggy to sell unrelated things or to send spam.
If we disable your account you will see a notice and can email support@giggy.nz to sort it out. We aim to be fair, and we will explain why.
7. Your content
You own what you post. You give us a licence to show it on Giggy and in emails about Giggy (for example, showing your listing to someone with a matching job alert) for as long as it is live. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to post it.
8. Our content
The Giggy name, logo, design and code are ours. You can share links to listings anywhere you like. Please do not copy the site or pretend to be us.
9. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Receipts are emailed to you and are available in Profile settings under Transactions. Refunds, where they apply, go back to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days.
10. Things we cannot promise
We work hard to keep Giggy up and accurate, but we cannot guarantee it will always be available, that every listing is genuine, that you will find work or find someone to do the work, or that anyone you meet through Giggy will behave. Please use your judgement, as you would with any noticeboard. Check who you are dealing with before you hand over money, personal documents or turn up somewhere alone.
To the extent New Zealand law allows, Giggy is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from your dealings with other users. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply.
11. Ending things
You can leave any time by closing your account. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop running Giggy. If we are closing down we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your information out.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will email you or put a notice on the site before it takes effect. Keeping on using Giggy after that means you accept the new terms.
